Montreal ska-punk lifers K-Man & The 45s don’t do half measures. Built on years of van miles, late nights, and sweat-soaked rooms from Montreal to Berlin, the band returns with “We Won’t Stop,” the first advance single from their upcoming album Heed The Call, out October 9 via Stomp Records. Landing August 25 alongside a new video and full album presale, the track sets the tone early, blending two-tone ska, punk urgency, and rock and roll grit in the spirit of The Clash, The Specials, and Mad Caddies. This isn’t a nostalgia run or a throwback nod. It’s a band doubling down on what they’ve always done best, loud, direct, and meant to be played in a packed room with no space left to move.
For over a decade, K-Man & The 45s have carved out their place the hard way. No shortcuts, no chasing algorithms. Just relentless touring across Canada, the US, and Europe, building a following city by city. Back home, that energy moves through Montreal in flashes, neon bar signs, wet pavement, cigarette smoke curling outside packed rooms, horns ringing out into the night. It’s a city that doesn’t really shut down, just shifts gears, and the band sits right in that pocket, where the party and the pressure live side by side. Their sound pulls from two-tone roots and classic ska, but it hits with a rock and punk weight that feels closer to The Clash than any revival circuit. Fred Perry collars soaked through, skinny ties loosened by the second set, horns cutting through the noise while the rhythm section pushes everything forward at full tilt. It’s music built for movement, not playlists.
“We Won’t Stop” leans all the way into that energy. Driven by a chant-along hook and a blunt, no-frills message, the track taps into a frustration that feels immediate and right at street level. “There’s only one problem, it’s on top / Leaders are shit,” isn’t dressed up for radio. It lands exactly how it’s meant to, shouted back from the floor, not filtered through a think piece. There’s no metaphor here, no distance. Just a band calling it as they see it, with the kind of urgency that only comes from years of watching things from ground level. Recorded and mixed by Ryan Battistuzzi at Le Stuzzio in Montreal, the single captures K-Man & The 45s in their natural state. Tight, loud, and locked in from years on the road.
